I hope it's a good one ...
Honesty first
Advanture Magazine is a true family run business. What started as an idea on the road between my fiancee and I, is now a real life print publication which has reached a small number of readers around the world. It’s just us navigating the big world of running a remote business, along with our 3-year-old and a cat in tow.
The two of us felt like we were getting trapped. At work, in personal relationships and in life. Trapped and bound to the internet.
I have always been an avid photographer and writer, having worked with magazines during 2006-2009 - right before social media took off and all things analog died to death. I never thought I’d get to publish anything in print again, let alone build a platform to celebrate other peoples work on.
But here we are. The year is nearly 2025 and this small but growing community is choosing to disconnect with a print magazine once again.
Find somewhere without signal
I have been thinking for some time about working with a new tagline for Advanture Magazine. Since launch in 2020 I’ve been running with let the advanture begin and see you on the road. Both I love.
But now we’ve published 13 magazines (13 ships in just a few short days!), so we’re far from the beginning.
However, in the back of my head that urge to get further away from the modern world is still bugging me.
I think find somewhere without signal is a true call to action for our community. It’s got both the camping and magazine thing wrapped up in a warm puffy sleeping bag. Who doesn’t want to get out there and really switch off when they go on that next adventure?
A question for you
I’ve got about 50 people who I chat with on a regular basis about the magazine, and I really want to increase that and build a relationship with another 50 people over the next year.
I’m asking you to give me some feedback, on the mag, the tagline, the stories and the photos I curate.
