Summer already seems like a flash in the rearview mirror. I took a few trips with my family, one to England for the first time in four years, and another very hot week was spent on the Costa Brava in Spain.
But we are now back home in the Pyrenees mountains, and boy does it feel good to be back. Cooler temperatures make hiking in the woods a joy. The van isn’t a roasting 40C inside, and soon we’ll welcome the first glimpses of autumn as the trees start to turn.
Also, I have been loving seeing photos of where you are all reading the latest issue from. thanks for posting those on Instagram.
Meet-up
At the beginning of August, new faces rolled into town in a very well-traveled early T3. Leigh, Dominika, and family (Combe Valley Campers in the UK) led their bus all the way through France to meet up with us for a campout in the Pyrenees. Some great days were spent chatting about our shared passion for these troublesome old busses, exploring the river and forest alongside our campsite, and getting excited about the wild ideas we have for the future.
Their bus needed some maintenance after the 800+ mile trip, so we brought them down to our town and spent a few more days together and got to enjoy the swimming pool, and lunch by the lake. Anyone who finds themselves close to La Cerdanya, please do let me know as we’d love to show you around a bit too.
Update on Snickers, our VW T3 Caravelle
While Advanture 10 ships out to subscribers and gets stocked on the shelves at our stockists, I have been under the engine on Snickers to start cleaning off 33 years of muck, to see what might be underneath.
Mascha (my fiancee) and I have been writing a list of essential repairs to start with, then a secondary list of work that we want to do to the bus to start bringing it back to its former glory. I have a few more videos due on the Advanture YouTube, so come check that out if you are interested in seeing some of the work we are getting into.
Thanks so much to everyone who has been heading to their local WHSmiths store in the UK to see Advanture stocked on the shelf. Copies have found their way into the hands of a whole new load of readers!
Alright until the next one. See you on the road.
Alex
