Bus update: it climbs mountains
After nearly two months work on Snickers, our 1990 Volkswagen Caravelle, I’m so happy to say that it is finally ready for the next ITV inspection (MOT back in the UK). I finally fixed the oil pressure warning system that was persistent for the last 20 or so years.
Basically the old circuit board behind the dashboard needs replacing. I reckon years of harsh Spanish sun has totally cooked the PCB, resulting in a handful of electrical problems on the dash. To cut a long repair story short I cleaned up the existing board as best I could, soldered in some repair wires, and am crossing my fingers that this will hold up until I can wire in a replacement circuit board. Wish me luck. Please!
Pictured here is one of the most beautiful valleys in the La Cerdanya region where I live, and when the leafs turn, it truly is a spectacle. Once I felt confident enough with my repairs on Snickers, I took it up to 2000m altitude to see how the old bus felt on its first alpine adventure.

Seasonal influences
I have come to really love autumn. It has a child-like allure to it when you start to appreciate the details. Jack-o-lantern pumpkins, conquers, crispy leafs and colder weather. I’ve enjoyed a few aimless drives in Snickers, just to appreciate the colours on display.

A reader of Advanture over in the UK said he had started to take out his film camera on trips after we started printing more 35mm photography in the mag. That really is the type of feedback that makes me want to experiment even more with both my own film photography, and approaching future mags with more artistic vision. Nice one Sam, massive influence for me to hear about your new found passion.

Alright that’s all from me on this one. See you on the road.
