Gone back to the 90's

And I'm loving it.

Introducing, Snickers.

My girlfriend and I have been dreaming of this for a very, very long time. We are now the proud (third owners) of this beautiful VW T3 Caravelle GL from 1990.

There wasn’t another name more adapt for this two-tone brown bus. It drives like an old van, smells like and old cinema, and sounds like a beast. We love it.

It's in amazingly good original condition. And it's ours!

The story

I won’t drop too much information, because I will have an article about it in Advanture #10. But this bus was on the market for nearly a whole year. Granted, there is some engine work to see to pretty urgently, but overall, this is a stellar example of these old busses. The seller wasn’t trying to sell it, and his listing was buried deep in the cosmos of segunda mano posts on the Spanish web.

The VW T3 is the car I’ve always dreamed of owning at some point in my life. My girlfriend really wants an old ‘69 Beetle, but the time will come for one of those at some point :). Tales from other T3 owners have been some of the main sources of inspiration for stories I’ve sought out for the magazine. We had that great front cover shot from @funwagen on the first print test run of issue 04, he also had his T3 Doka featured in the redesigned issue 07. Then later on with issue 09, the T3 appeared on this latest cover, my favourite one yet which was captured by @syncroverland

The only thing on Snickers that didn’t come out of the Hanover factory back in 1990 with, is the crappy digital CD player that’s been put in the brown leather dash.

Everything else, well, it’s like a time capsule.

The plan

We’ve bought Snickers for the Advanture platform, for photoshoots, for shows, for fun. I mean look at it, who doesn’t wanna drive one of these beauties?
